Old Town Rooster

Morningstar Art presents Old Town Rooster, a light‑hearted yet authentic glimpse into one of the Florida Keys’ most unexpected local traditions. The Keys are full of free‑roaming chickens and roosters—confident little characters who strut through parking lots, wander past storefronts, and seem to enjoy people‑watching as much as the crowds enjoy watching them. It’s an odd sight in a city street, but these birds have adapted beautifully, becoming part of the island’s rhythm and charm.

This photograph, captured near Mallory Square, highlights the quirky personality of Key West’s feathered residents. The rooster stands as both observer and participant, blending into the daily bustle with a kind of casual authority. Its presence adds humor, color, and a touch of wild unpredictability to the urban landscape.

Old Town Rooster celebrates the spirit of Key West—unpolished, lively, and wonderfully strange—where even the sidewalks have stories to tell.
